Hello.  I am Mark Heilig, the publisher/editor/writer of The Ray Area.  I am a labor lawyer in Tampa and, in a previous life, spent 9 summers working in the [Devil] Rays front office.

I hope you will find The Ray Area to be a place to relax, laugh, and enjoy talking about the hometown 9.  We aren’t going to break any news, and I am not going to get hired as the club’s next GM.  But I will offer my opinion, analysis, a little inside baseball, and hopefully, create a place for Rays fans to come and be fans.  After all, this is a simple game, you throw the ball, you catch the ball, and you hit the ball, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes it rains.  (Oh, yeah, and I plagiarize relentlessly from the wisdom that is Bull Durham).

Send me any suggestions or comments.  MarkHeilig@GMail.com.

Two quick thank yous.  First, thanks to legendary point guard and budding tycoon Tyler Azzarelli who added one more assist to his career total.  Second, thanks to Justin Hancy at H&H Unlimited Media who designed the site for me proving, once again, that everyone you need to know in life once lived at 250 Pennsylvania Ave.

Thanks for stopping by.  Go Rays.
