Joe. I am trying here. But you are really testing my faith.
Desmond Jennings is starting in rightfield? Well. Um. Ok. I am still with you…I think?
Here is today’s lineup:
Bartlett ss
Upton cf
Crawford lf
Longoria 3b
Zobrist 1b
Aybar DH (I know what you are thinking. The Rays used a rule that allows roster modification for an injury. Rocco just went to the DL for the rest of October.)
Shoppach dh
Rodriguez 2b
Jennings rf
Shields p

This lineup is borderline hilarious. I just hope it works better than yesterday’s experiment. If Desmond strikes out 3 times on 9 pitches, things are going to get ugly.
Pena should have had both of those picks. Or at least one of the two. I know he’s a Gold Glover and all, but Tex never misses those two balls. He didn’t look like he had any idea what kind of bounce those balls were going to take.
What you hear during Willy’s first at bat will be me screaming at my computer that he is jogging to first base like Victor Martinez on a home run trot.
Not only should Pena have had those picks. But he especially has to make those plays if he is going to stare at called third strikes. If he hit the bomb Tex hit but missed the picks, I’d be ok with him.
who will have a sore roster spot after this game?
Has to be someone the Rays don’t want to use in the next round. And it has to be someone that plays a position the Rays can replace with the guys they kept around. Best I can tell, the only player that didn’t make the roster but stayed in the clubhouse is Nevin Ashley (who they brought in to workout with the team when Navarro passed on their request for him to stay around in case a catcher gets hurt).
so… Shop-Vac, is next? Can Jaso be that bad against lefties? he will at least work the count.
Jaso vs RHP .274/.379/.394/49BB/10SO
Jaso vs. LHP .191/.333./277/10BB/10SO
so far this series 0 – eternity. 2K’s. Offering nothing but terrible walk up music and general suckitude.
