A little breaking news this afternoon. (Note. This is not now nor will it ever be a place to get breaking news. So don’t get used to these kind of posts. I am not a reporter nor do I aspire to be one. But I heard this on the radio and it seemed interesting.)
Major League Baseball just changed the ground rules at the Trop. For the last few seasons, any ball that hit the A-ring or B-ring catwalks (the two highest catwalks) in fair territory was in play. If a fielder caught the ricochet the hitter was out. If it landed, the hitter was safe. This was always a stupid rule. Originally, balls that hit those catwalks in fair play were dead balls and the hitter was awarded a double.
Well, Major League Baseball just changed the rule. No more arena baseball. Now, any ball that hits the A-ring or B-ring is dead.

That rule would have helped against the Twins.
I am almost certain that is the motivation for the rule change. I am still not sure why the rule changed to a live ball in the first place.
