My wife and I took our girls to Westshore Pizza on south Westshore Boulevard in Tampa last night to watch the ballgame.  Not only is Westshore Pizza a great, family friendly, place to eat great pizza and drink cold beer (18″ pizza and a pitcher of beer for about $10), but it is crawling with Rays fans — in fact I even ran into two friends who are also newly-minted readers of The Ray Area.

Hanging out at Westshore Pizza I was reminded that, even though we can’t all make it out to the ballpark every night, Rays fans still gather to support the home team.  It’s time to start compiling a list of all the great local establishments where fans live and die with the club.  We’ll start with Westshore Pizza and then add to the list as I find them or get suggestions.

So, send me tips about great Rays establishments –let’s call them Little Trops until I think of something better–in the Bay Area and I will try to visit as many as I can:  MarkHeilig@Gmail.com.

  1. I live like 5 minutes from there. Great place to watch the Rays!

  2. Me says:

If you’re not going with the kids, a great place to go would be The Wooden Door just down the road. They have an outdoor area that generally has a television set up outside. Watch out for college football and NFL games though, they may take precedence.
