Last Friday, in the comments of Brendan’s Ray Area debut, Mike McK suggested that Brendan and I engage in a SNL Point-Counterpoint style
debate.*
We just want to give the people what they want. So, here is the first of what we hope to be many Point-Counterpoint Debates. The first topic: Does Andrew Friedman give up too quickly on players?
I take the point, arguing that Friedman is a quitter.
Brendan takes the counterpoint, arguing that Friedman isn’t a quitter.

This is FANTASTIC!!!!! Thanks, guys!!!!
I was very confused at first, but I like it.
A second complete game for Mr. Shields! With all of the pundits who discounted the Rays by virtue of the departed bullpen, I say we don’t need no stinking bullpen! With all of the quality starts thus far in the season, the bullpen is almost an afterthought. Top that with the fact that the bullpen is actually not too shabby. As has been the case in the past few years, the Rays win with consistent pitching and timely hitting. They are aggressive and take on the personality of Joe Maddon. I like seeing Joe sit Lopez for taking a Sunday stroll to first, but at the same time he didn’t make it a huge public issue. It is that kind of example that allows Joe to make the most of the players he has, and the reason I believe that as long as we have Joe and our front office, the Rays are going to be competitive.
You might have a point Travis. Per Rays PR, the Rays are just the 6th team since 2000 (and the first since 2003) to have 13 starts of 7+ IP in the first 21 games. Maybe Bobby Ramos has used all that free time to develop some new dance moves.
