I am forcing myself to listen to Ron and Ian on 620 WDAE this morning. I don’t know why I am doing that but I am.
Luckily, Ron Diaz gave me the idea for a new section on the blog. When I worked for the Devil Rays, we sent all poorly reported news stories to the fictional website Blow-It.com. So, in that tradition, I am going to amass all haphazard, slap-dash analysis in the mainstream media under this heading.
Ron and Ian spent part of this morning’s show debating* the Rays postseason roster. During that discussion, we learned the kind of effect a lifetime of drinking Natty Light at hair band concerts has on your deductive reasoning skills. To wit, former Rock Jock turned sports analyst (I know, I don’t get it either) Ron Diaz doesn’t think Randy Choate should make the Rays postseason roster because his ERA was 27.00 in March. Really.
Forget for a second what two bad outings in March have to do with October. Also, put a sheet over the fact that Ron Diaz got the morning sports talk show on this market’s most powerful sports station despite not understanding how ERA is calculated. Because both of those issues hide the real problem.
GM Diaz doesn’t think the Rays need a lefty in their postseason bullpen. Woops. Blow-It.com.
*I recognize that this term seems to imply relevant, intelligent conversation so, as anyone that has listened to these geniuses knows, I use it loosely.

I can barely listen to 620 anymore, I’ve spent more and more time on 1040, but while I was on travel for a few weeks something happened to Mark Bynarzik (I’m sure I just destroyed the spelling of his name). Maybe you know? I didn’t always agree with him, but at least he had a reasonably fresh take and was entertaining without being too critical or obsessive about any one topic (except himself at times, which I equated to being a bit of schtick anyway).
I look forward to this new section though. Bravo.
ron and ian are great…your just a boring f***
Ummm…thanks?
On the main page, the last two comments for this post show as the most recent. Is that correct? This post is well over a year old and just now some Ron and Ian fan boy shows up?
I think it showed up in that Random Posts section in the middle. Right? Had to.
