The Platoon Advantage, a sister blog on the Sweet Spot Network, wrote a good post yesterday surmising that Bud Selig is actively covering up proof of umpire mistakes in Game 5 of the ALDS.
I wasn’t going to link to it yesterday because, even if Bartlett scores and we get the double-play, we probably lose the game anyway in light of Cliff Lee’s dominance and, I didn’t want to spawn a legion of tin-foil hats with Rays logos.
But, upon further review (get it, it’s a replay pun, I am awesome), the post is just too good for you not to read.
Also, The Platoon Advantage’s headline gives me an excuse to post this video (the embed function on Seinfeld clips is inexplicably shut down so, here is a link instead.)from the last time video and JFK crossed paths.

I definitely noticed that there wasn’t enough attention paid to calls that were close. I thought it was weird. I agree with you that, even taken together, those plays probably don’t add up to a win for the good guys, but it’s inexplicable that they would pass on looking at some meaty footage. I still haven’t seen a helpful look at the play at first. You would have to run two angles simultaneously to answer the question. I sure would like to know. I also heard the radio guys talking about a Ranger sliding past the bag at 2nd and being tagged, but the ump missed it. Haven’t seen anything about that.
Oh well. Color me a Rangers fan for the rest of their season. I like the scrappiness.
In my opinion, this is classic Selig. He is the least subtle person on earth and operates totally reactively. An All Star game comes to mind.
I think the bigger conspiracy is TBS never addressing when something on the field contradicts exactly whatever Ron Darling just said.
