When serial Ray-killer John Buck (Career .418 slugging/.718 OPS; Career vs. TB .540 slugging/.845 OPS) sent a long fly ball back into leftfield last night I was certain it was gone.  Everyone else, however, thought it was headed to catwalk land.  Including the skipper who later explained:

“I have made amends with the building, and I have promised not to whine again, and I think because of that, that’s why the ball missed something,” Maddon said. “It was going to hit something, but it missed something. I think I actually saw the catwalk move several inches to avoid that ball.”

If we were headed for 70 wins again, I’d say Maddon is a kook.  But, we aren’t headed for 70 wins.  So, Maddon can say ridiculous things and the press will call him “colorful.”  Ain’t winning grand?
