A random thought occurred to me on the way to work this morning:

Is “That’s Bull—-, That’s Bull—-, That’s Bull—-, That’s Bull—-” the new “9=8?”

I hope so.

Perhaps the greatest argument Maddon has had yet. I think baseball needs a new Bobby Cox, Maddon has the right stuff to fit the bill.

Joe’s California Cool makes him the least likely manager in the bigs to lose his mind like that. But, he gets run all the time? Who would think a laid-back wine drinker would surpass Sweet Lou as the all time head to the showers guy?

By the way, Joe’s tirade nearly motivated me to write “Joe Maddon was the envy of the Rays Republic yesterday because he didn’t have to watch the last three innings of the game” as my summary for ESPN.com’s Power Rankings but I thought better of it at the last minute (aka, the Mrs. told me it was too negative).

Gotta agree with the Mrs…we’re plenty negative on our own right now, you and the other bloggers are tasked being the unfortunate ones to keep our hopes at least falsely alive right now…enjoy.

$20 says Gallargo is more upset than Joe and us…”So they can overturn that call but not mine?”

I won’t speak for the others but, for me, it is never really THAT bad. I mean, it is still baseball and, no matter how bad, I am going to enjoy watching.

Besides, I worked in Public Relations for the Devil Rays. I have seen bad baseball in spades and this isn’t it.

Am I the only person noticing that Fuld looks like the real deal on defense? When Longoria comes back, I really think I would like an outfield with Fuld, BJ, and Zorilla. For now we can’t have Ben out there, but I think he is a great right fielder.

    • Mark says:

I agree on Fuld. Based on the short sample I’ve seen so far, I might even wager that, in some sense, he is an improvement over our previous-leftfielder-who-I-am-not-ready-to-discuss. Obviously, he doesn’t cover the same territory as the last guy but, it looks to me like he has a better arm and is good at positioning.

I like Zobrist in right as well but, I think Joyce is an under-appreciated outfielder. Either way, the Zobrist, Rodriguez, Joyce 2B-RF platoon is looking pretty nice so far.

  4. Travis says:

You have to love the utility of a player like Zobrist, he really is a jack of all trades. I do think is strong point is OF, but he is certainly a good 2B option. I am currently trying to determine how much of this is Rays potential, and how much is bad pitching. I am currently thinking it is about 60/40 in favor of the Rays.

Fuld is quickly becoming my favorite this year.
