A few weeks ago, I was talking to some friends who agreed to credential me as a member of the working media for the Winter Meetings. It seemed like a good opportunity since the meetings were close enough to drive and the Rays had so many open questions to address. But, some conflicts arose in my real job and I had to back out.
My currently hectic work schedule is the greatest thing that ever happened to the Winter Meetings. If I was in LBV and had to sit through all these rumors, winks, nudges, and whispers, I might go on a killing spree. Good thing I am safely sequestered in my office.
If you are interested in the latest non-news news, here is Marc Topkin’s summary from this morning’s paper.
My favorite part is Andrew Friedman telling Topkin he had a “very productive day.” Something tells me he is just having fun with the Our-Editors-Said-I-Have-To-Fill-10-Inches-on-Page-1 Crowd. If I were Friedman, I’d be having fun too.
As for me, I think I will wait and just post if and when something happens. Or maybe I will hire a 7th grade girl as a contributor and have her handle all the rumors.

Are you kidding? My fantasy league has winter meetings in two weeks. I can get you credentialed if you want. They’re being held at the Red Osier beef restaurant in Batavia, NY.
Do you think Friedman is also discussing IP limits in the playoffs, as well as the possibility of a trophy for the champion?
Insufferably sad. I await your reaction to the events of the past two days…
