We have three days to obsess over the matchup with Texas.  We have all winter to discuss the tribute the Rays gave the 154 game schedule in the final week of the season.  We have our entire lives to debate the 2010 Rays’ place in history (with some significant part of that history yet to be written).

Before we get into all that, let’s just take one second and absorb the absurdity of this run.  The Rays have won 2 of the last 3 AL East Titles.  That is exactly two more AL East Titles than I thought this club would ever win on March 1, 2008.

Don’t get obsessed with the World Series.  Just remember this moment.  The worst franchise in the history of sports just went toe-to-toe with King Kong and Godzilla for three straight years.  That doesn’t happen all the time.  I don’t know what is going to happen in 2011, 2012, or beyond.  But I know that right now, this club gave us a magical summer that we need to savor.  Everything from here on in is just gravy.

That’s how I felt in ’08, and was able to stay giddy the entire off-season into ’09. Even the “disappointing” ’09 was lovely to me because discounting ’08 it was a great year for this club.

That doesn’t mean I don’t want more…but I sure love what we’re getting (although closing out the season with some authority against the AL basement would have been kinda nice).

Same here given the salary inequities, the split fan base never thought I’d see postseason baseball. Still want at least alcs though.

I think you should want the ALCS and even more. But let’s make sure we enjoy the ride too!
