Strolled out to the driveway this morning and picked up my daily St. Pete Times and saw that the Rays game made tit onto page 1A.

Wait.

AP

No it didn’t.  A tribute to George Steinbrenner made it onto 1A.

I am the first to say that Mr. Steinbrenner was a great citizen of this community.  He deserves to be memorialized many times over in this area.  EXCEPT, the day after the home team loses in New York.

Last night was New York’s time to memorialize him.  The Times would be wise to save their memorials for the winter instead of running them in the homestretch of a pennant race.

(P.S. Can someone in Avila please send me an email to confirm that the explosion of Vince Naimoli’s head was clearly audible throughout the neighborhood when he saw that tribute on 1A?)

I live near Avila, explosion confirmed.
Love the blog, (and the Rays of course) keep it up.
